Our Philosophy
Noted author and scholar of the human habitat William Whyte once made
this simple observation: people attract people. Terra’s master plans and designs for college campuses pay close attention to social habits. We approach each project with the aim of shaping landscapes, pedestrian paths and other elements to enliven the overall student culture and learning environment.
Spotlight Project:
Lewis and Clark Community College
Colleges and universities, by the nature of their mission, are forever changing
while trying to stay grounded in place and time. In the case of Lewis and Clark Community College, the pressures of growth presented this challenge: how to preserve the quiet strength and serenity of its nearly 200 year-old campus, punctuated by century old trees and stately stone buildings, while serving twenty-first century needs. Terra created the Campus Landscape Master Plan to blend the old and new of the College into a cohesive and fluid experience. By defining portals between campus zones, and inviting more interaction and socializing, the landscape once again became a unifying force. |
